YOUR READING & LE MANS ITINERARY

U.S. Departure: Sunday, June 11th – Return: Monday, June 19th 2006
We start out in Reading, Optional 2-day Paris Extension

THE LEGENDARY 24 HOURS OF LE MANS

Not until you have been here can you comprehend the sheer enormity and magnificence of the event. To witness the electrifying 50-car grid start is awesome. To experience the surreal atmosphere that descends as dusk falls.

The unrivalled spectacle of the greatest sports car marques on earth - headlights blazing, screaming into the night at speeds topping 220 mph. The triumphs and the tragedies - culminating in the emotive finish - 24 hard-fought hours later.

We offer not only hospitality, but an exceptional opportunity to join an actual competing team in the paddock and in the pits, for total back-stage insight right at the very heart of the action, to soak up the incredible atmosphere of this magical event - the 74th running of the legendary “24 Heures du Mans.”

The 2006 LE MANS PORSCHE Fest is an event worthy of our 31th Anniversary.   You will be part of the Robin Donovan Racing Team in the Paddock Area. Robin Donovan is second only to five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell in experience at Le Mans!!  (So he's way behind Jacky Ickx & Tom Kristensen) Our Château is just a tent in Masion Banche is LESS than a one minute walk from the Track.

You will enjoy 8 fabulous days in the finest campsite in Europe; 7 delightful breakfasts; 5 delicious luncheons; 7 spectacular dinners & banquets; 3 cocktail parties; and 14 special excursions and events, including the Le Mans Race.  Of course, not only are the meals included, but champagne, wine and beer flow freely.  You will first visit Portsmouth: Williams F-1 Grand Prix Collection; F1 is for the boys so we're not bothering with that. Sports Cars are for MEN!. Aston Martin Factory; would be good to visit but it closed now. The House of Lords; Has bugger all to do with Motor Sport. (Unless you count Lord Hesketh) So we're not going to bother with that either. Going to "a London theatre."  Is a great idea if your not going to Le Mans. We are so forget the theater. In Le Mans, we will be in the inner sanctum of the track, part of the Drinking For Holland Team.  Seats on the starting line with the best amenities available.  We have also programmed two optional days in Paris on the way back, if you like.

SUNDAY (June 11th, 2006)
You leave your hometown in the U.S. and fly to London on the airline of your choice.   Please contact Bernice or Ron in our Uniglobe Forest Lake Travel, Inc. office at 813 855 4488 to make the air travel arrangements.

MONDAY (June 12th, 2006)
You will arrive either at Heathrow or Gatwick and we will transfer you via private chauffeured car to the elegant 5-Star Le Méridien Grosvenor House(http://www.lemeridien-grosvenorhouse.com/). This Mayfair district hotel has been regarded as one of London's most exclusive addresses since 1927.  Where you will be refused a room as they don't allow visitors wearing T-Shirts emblazened with "I'm a CUNT" in 6 inch letters.

TUESDAY (June 13th, 2006)
A bountiful European breakfast buffet is served at the Grosvenor House.  But you'll have to make do with what you can be bothered to cook. We pack the car with our camping gear and drive to the port. First stop will be at Rudmore Cellars for a pint of Real Ale. Whilst queueing to get on the Ferry you will observe some fine Sports Cars from years gone by as well as more modern beasts. If your really lucky you may catch a glimpse of the famed Commer of Team Zarse. Once on board the Ferry put your stuff in the Cabin and head for the Bar as fast as you can. You neck as much beer as you can before they shut the at some ridiculously early time. A few of pints will give you a better understanding of what is to hit you once you get to the Circuit. On the Ferry you will be entertained by the Best DJ or Duo that the Ferry operator can get for the money they are willing to splash out. (Which is not a lot.)

WEDNESDAY (June 14th, 2006)
Another bountiful European breakfast, I think not. You wake up in a bit of a haze wondering where all your mates are and where you left the car. After driving for a while you remember what you really need is a full English Breakfast. Sausage, Egg, Bacon, Black Pudding and Fried Bread washed down with a nice strong Cup of Tea. You stop at a Café but all they have to offer is Coffee and Croissants. The drive on to Le Mans is very pleasant the early mist has been burnt off and it's starting to look like a warm day. On arrival in Le Mans one of the cars in our Convoy will peel off to visit the Carrefour to collect the inital supplies. You arrive on the Campsite. You find a spot you feel best suits your needs. You look around and see they have provided you with not just a Shower and WC but a whole block of Showers and WCs for your exclusive use. But now the sun is really starting to get going and wonder if it's such a good idea to be putting up tents and Gazebos in such heat. Then one of guys in the tents opposite who you've never seen before walks over thrusts a bottle of cool beer in your hands saying "You look like you need this"

Tonight, we have planned an early dinner at The BBQ prior to transferring to the Track area to see the cars running for the first time. “the best of London's theatre options.”  are nothing compared to feeling the power of these cars. It will be a spectacular evening. rounded off by a vist to the Drinking For Holland Team. to watch The Italian Job Before crawling in to your sleeping bag, that's assuming you can find the tent in the drunken consfusion you will be in by that time.

THURSDAY (June 15th, 2006)
This morning, You wake, you'll feel like a bag shite. After emerging from the tent you see why. It's like WW IV. After a breakfast (an inch of tooth paste). You feel fine. You look in the Fridge and see only beer. Then you remember this is Le Mans and here Beer is the only Legit Breakfast.

We have planned a lovely dinner tonight in the gourmet restaurant in the Gâzebo. Cooking in fine style by our Resident Chef "Le Brick" Then we will return to the track. After the final practice session of the night we transfer to Team JPC since we have VIP passes for you. The house signature cocktail is the Tropicoma this is a delightfully refeshing drink thought by some to surpass the universaly acclaimed Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster

FRIDAY (June 16th, 2006)
This morning we will enjoy wakeing up in a coma. Yet another Beakfast of toothpaste and Bier, You feel fine, After a bit of house keeping you realise that the Grass is now starting to look in need of attention. It's time for Lawn mowing. This proves a great photo opporortunity. Nowhere else in the world would you dream of Photographing someone mowing the grass but Le Mans is different. The rest of the day is at your liesure.
First, a few words about Le Mans: Some consider the 24 Hours of Le Mans the greatest motor race in the world.  They know Jack Shit about it. It IS greatest motor race in the world! One thing that is not always known by the newcomers to the race is that in fact Le Mans is a British Motor Race. It's just held in France. The sound, sights and aroma of the spectacular racecars competing on the incredible 9.5-mile (Actualy it's 13.65Km) winding circuit hold Le Mans in a league of its own.  Lang Tall DfH , one of our hosts, will guide us on the actual track he has driven many times.  We will drive our motor coach on the track, so that you Still don't have a clue what it's like pulling 330+Ks down the Mullsane or into Indianapolis cos there are so many other cars doing the same thing, so it's just a 30kph saunter. With most of the French Gandamaire and CRS watching you there's not even the opportunity to hold back a bit and then Welly it.

THIS TOTAL LE MANS EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:

We have arranged seats in the new, covered Race Tribune, right above the pits on the Paddock side which we should point out is not exactly the best place in the house, it's equivalent to the “50-yard line” at the Superbowl.  (What The Fuck are we talking about!) This is nothing like the Superbowl. Once the Flag drops thats it! the race is on. No stopping every two laps so you can get a message from our sponsors. Nor is there a break half way though so some Bint can have a Wardrobe Malfunction. That's not to say some bird won't be showing her Thrupennies. But even if she does it no big deal. We are actually part of the Club Arnage Poo Bar Team, which provides us with admittance to a special Sponsor’s Club Tent.  You will be able to walk around inside the Paddock area, see all racing teams' set-ups; watch mechanics work feverishly; and be part of the “inside” of the Le Mans Race.  We have included:

1. Full Team Sponsor Hospitality
You will be looked after and enjoy the privileges only team sponsors have.

2. Privilege Entrée to Sponsor/Team Paddock Marquee
In the Paddock itself shared by the Teams and Drivers.

3. All-day Catering Saturday and Sunday
Open wine and beer bar throughout the weekend.
Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and Lunch on Sunday.
All-night kitchen - hot soups and snacks.

4. Sponsor 'Pit Access' and Privilege Tickets
* VIP team passes and ABCD paddock passes.
* 'Pool' of pit access passes.
* Privileged pre-race grid access and pit-wall 'checkered flag.'
* Our dedicated Pit Pass manager will take you onto the actual grid before the start, into the garage during the race to witness the spectacular action of refueling and driver changes, and onto the pit wall for the emotive checkered flag.

5. Top Grandstand Seating
Your reserved Grandstand seat is above the pits overlooking the Start and Finish line.

6. Circuit Tours by Minibus
Throughout the weekend, you will be driven to the most exciting locales on the 9.5 mile circuit (Mulsanne, Indianapolis, Arnage).   See the turbo's flames at the Indianapolis corner; take in the awesome spectacle cars screaming through the night at 200 mph+ on the fastest part of the circuit from our private viewing area.

7. Helicopter Overflights
An unforgettable 10-minute flight lapping the circuit during the race!!  They can't keep up with the cars down the Mulsanne but they can cut the corners.  You will really see how phenomenally fast the cars are around the circuit, and they also hover at strategic points like the 100 meter high Grandstand!  Take off is a short 5 minute walk from the Pits Grandstand.

IN ADDITION YOU RECEIVE:

You will be a member of the Automobile Club de L’Ouest.   This Club in Le Mans is the organization that sponsors the race.   As a result, we are including membership in the Automobile Club de L’Ouest for the 2006 Le Mans PORSCHE Fest participants. Membership benefits include:

  • Access to the "Members Enclosure" inside the Le Mans “Race Village” with closed circuit TV and its own bar – a pleasant retreat from the noisy crowds.
  • As a Club Member you are entitled to discounts on all official merchandise at the A.C.O. boutiques around the circuit.
  • The official 2006 Le Mans Race poster.
  • The official 2006 Le Mans Race program.
  • The official 2006 Le Mans Race catalogue of entries, the “bible” giving all the technical details of each car and the profile of the drivers.
  • The official 2006 Le Mans Race results after the race.
  • The official 2006 Le Mans Race photo of the winning car after the race.
  • The official 2006 Le Mans Race photo of the winning drivers on the stage after the race.
  • Finally, a service we hope you’ll never need – free breakdown and towing service anywhere in France by simply calling 08 00 08 08 24.

On Friday, we will stroll around the Le Mans facility to familiarize ourselves with the layout, the location of our seats and the shops. Tomorrow there will be a huge crowd and we need to understand the lay of the land beforehand.

We have arranged a relaxing luncheon the Auberge de Mulsanne directly on the track.  Robin Donovan will be joining us for lunch and you will have plenty of time to ask questions.  After lunch we’ll return to the main entrance of the track and you can spend the next few hours on your own touring the facilities.

Later, we return to Château des Sept Tours.  Tonight, we will have a French pool picnic with cold cuts, wine, cheese, baguettes and those magnificent French desserts.

    SATURDAY (June 17th, 2006)
This morning, You probaly miss due to partying till the sun came up. we will enjoy another inch of toothpaste in the splendor of the Câmp shower block or stand pipe.  After breakfast, we head in our deluxe motor coach back to Le Mans.  You will have plenty of time to stroll around the souvenir stalls, see the action in the pits and observe the pre-race practice runs.   You may take lunch at your leisure at our private little pitch on one of the Campsites in the area.

The race promptly starts at 16:00 (4:00pm).  But don't get too excited, this year it's starting at 17:00.
Since this is less than a week or so from the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere, it will stay light until well past 9:00 pm. Keeping you in touch with the on-track action is Radio Le Mans, the ACO’s English language radio station.   The station is on the air for 72 hours and broadcasts over a five-mile radius, so French is not mandatory to follow the action.

Each participant, if they wish, will be flown around the track in a helicopter to observe the total race from the air.  In addition, we have a van on the inside of the track that, from time to time, will drive you to the most interesting venues of the race.

We will have dinner at the private RMD Sports International Ltd. Club. However, The enthusiast will head for the poo bar. Though this year the venue may change due to redevelopment in the Village. Here you will meet many of the characters that make the anual trip to Le Sathe. Folk like Gimp Zarse, The Bretheren, The T.W.A.T.S, BobbleHat, Choir Boy opps Moped Boy, Black Granny (Make sure you've sent in your Tax return) and many more. The motor coach will return to the Château des Sept Tours around 10:30 pm.  Each year, some enthusiasts want to spend the night at the track. It is our recommendation that you enjoy a good night’s rest in the baroque splendor of your room. Though thinking about it, If you can't hack the trip why are you going?

    SUNDAY (June 18th, 2006)
This morning, we will skip another French breakfast in the splendor of the Château des Sept Tours salon.  After breakfast, we head in our deluxe motor coach back to Le Mans.  The race will have thinned, because many competitors will have fallen victims to mechanical failures, fatigue, or unfortunately, potential accidents. You will have missed all that just because you were to whimpy to stay up most of the night.

You may take lunch at your leisure at our club.  Be sure to be back in the grandstands in your seats to witness the race’s completion when thousands of fans throng the track.

We will have the motor coach return to the Château des Sept Tours around 4:30pm.  Just 30 minutes before the end of the race. (Bad Luck!) Tonight, we have our legendary victory banquet in the elegant setting of the Gâzebo, preceded by a cocktail party.   Well bier if there is any left. It will be a fun and probably late evening.

    MONDAY (June 19th, 2006)
A bountiful European breakfast buffet is served at the Château. Unfortunately there will not be any of that for you. All the food will have been eaten or gone off by now.   This is the official conclusion of the Le Mans PORSCHE Fest.   Some of you will have arrangements for airport transfers, while others will head for Paris for an extra two days.  For us we have to work out how we got all this stuff in the car on the way out.
The 2006 LE MANS PORSCHE Fest will be an event you will tell your grandchildren about.  We look forward to seeing you in Europe!

SOME MORE DETAILS:

WILLIAMS F1 (http://www.bmw.williamsf1.com/)
Williams F1 are one of the successful Formula One Grand Prix teams of all time.  Founded in 1977 by Frank Williams and Patrick Head, they won their first World Championship by the end of 1980 in the hands of Australian Alan Jones, and never looked back.  We are visiting the new Williams Grand Prix collection building to see and hear about many of the cars that made up this extraordinary success story.

They are now one of the giants in Motor Sports premier category, having won an astonishing 16 World Championships, run some of the most exciting and talented drivers in modern day history, and arguably the greatest of them all - the late, great and much missed Aryton Senna.

Having won the Formula One Constructors Championship no less than 9 times (1980,81,86,87,92,93,94,96 & 97) and the Formula One Drivers World Championship an equally impressive 7 times (in the hands of Alan Jones 1980, Keke Rosberg 82, Nelson Piquet 87, Nigel Mansell 92, Alain Prost 93, Damon Hill 96 and with Jacques Villeneuve in 97), they start the 2006 season all set to make history once again.

ASTON MARTIN (http://www.astonmartin.com/)
In 1913, the original specification for the cars to be made by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford was: "a quality car of good performance and appearance - a car for the discerning owner-driver with fast touring in mind."  Apparently they succeeded. Renowned today equally for their handcrafted elegance and pure power, no Aston Martin has ever been either ungraceful or slow.

Among today's premier marques, Aston's name evokes so many images - from winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans to producing what is probably today's ultimate 'British Gentleman's Express' - the incredible V12 Vanquish with 460 bhp, and the successful continuation of their most famous ever series, the world renowned DB series ("The name's Bond, James Bond"...) - hand-built in Bloxham, Oxfordshire. The DB7 Vantage is the backbone of the company.

The Aston Martin factory is not open for tours, but they have opened for us.

Robin Donovan & RMD Sports International Ltd. (http://www.rmdsportsinternational.com/)
We teamed up with Robin Donovan, who with 14 Le Mans starts to his credit is now Britain’s most experienced Le Mans Racer.

Robin, a 3 times British Sports Car Champion who has raced everything from a Ferrari GT40 to a 7 Liter Chevy powered Riley & Scott prototype at Le Mans, is best known for being a regular driver with the famous German Kremer Porsche Team in the mid 90's.   His celebrated outing in '94, sharing with 5-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell MBE, when with their Gulf Kremer Porsche started on the front row and led the race is his most memorable. Robin combines his experience on this track with his expert knowledge off it to provide us with this unique opportunity.
